Andrea Callan '07 Named January Alum of the Month



Touro Law Center's Office of Development, Alumni Relations and Communications is proud to announce that Andrea Callan ’07 has been selected as the alum of the month for January 2010.

Andrea Callan is currently an attorney and director of the Suffolk County Chapter of the New York Civil Liberties Union. In her work with the NYCLU, she focuses on immigration, students’ rights, privacy and security, LGBT rights, racial justice, reproductive rights, and police conduct.

Andrea is the recipient of several awards including “Best Honors Dissertation” for her research and paper titled “The Faces of the Races: A Study of the Changing Images of African-Americans surrounding the Civil Rights Movement;” the Touro Law Center “Service to the Bar Award” for her work promoting American Bar Association programs in law schools throughout New York State; and the Touro Law Center award for “Exceptional Service to the Public & Community” for her service as an executive board member and legal volunteer for the Suffolk County Chapter of the NYCLU, and as president of the Touro Law NYCLU student group.

Andrea continues to participate in programs for students at Touro Law Center and has been a guest speaker for the Public Interest Law Organization of Touro (PILOT).
